What is a QR code and how does it work?
A QR code (Quick Response code) is a type of two-dimensional barcode that can be scanned using a smartphone camera. It works by storing data (such as a website link, contact details, text, or WiFi network) in a square grid of pixels, allowing instant access to information without the need for manual typing.
How can I generate a free QR code?
You can use the generator on our main page: select the desired data type (URL, Text, vCard, WiFi, etc.), enter the information in the fields provided, customize the colors if you wish, and the QR code will instantly generate on your screen. Then just click the 'Download PNG' button to save it.
What is the difference between Static and Dynamic QR codes?
A static QR code embeds the information directly into its visual pattern; once created, the destination (URL) cannot be changed. A dynamic QR code (available in the Pro plan) uses a short intermediate URL. This allows you to change the destination link whenever you want, without reprinting the QR code, and provides scan statistics.
Do free downloaded static QR codes ever expire?
No! The static QR codes generated on YourQRFree have no validity limit and never expire. You can scan them an unlimited number of times, and they will use the originally encoded data, as long as their offline destination or web link remains active.
How does bulk QR code generation (Bulk CSV) work?
Choose Bulk (CSV), upload a file with the payload in column A and an optional filename in column B, then download the generated SVG files as a ZIP. Processing happens locally in your browser. Review the source rows and test a sample before using a large batch.
What tools do I need to scan a QR code?
Most modern smartphones (iOS, Android) have a built-in QR code scanner directly in their native Camera app. You simply open the camera app, point it at the QR code, and a notification will appear that you can tap to open the link or data.
How should I print QR codes to avoid scanning errors (SVG/EPS)?
For printing on banners, magazines, or packaging, we highly recommend the vector format (Export Vector SVG/EPS) available in the Pro plan. Unlike a PNG image that pixelates when resized, the vector format remains perfectly clear at any size. Always ensure high contrast (dark design on a light background) and a margin ('quiet zone') around the code.
Can I insert a logo in the middle of the QR code?
QR codes have an error correction feature, which means a portion of them can be covered without losing data. You can place a vector logo or icon in the center, ensuring the correction level is set to maximum (level 'H' in our generator). We constantly test the scannability of our designs.
What kind of analytics can I see with dynamic QR codes?
With dynamic QR codes, you'll have access to details such as: total number of scans, unique IPs, user geolocation (country, city), operating system, and browser used, as well as the exact time/day the scan occurred. These insights help you accurately measure your marketing efforts.
